I had the privilege of visiting a Tuttorosso tomato farm, immersing myself in their fascinating world – from understanding their sustainable farming practices to witnessing the meticulous process of transforming fresh produce into finished canned goods. It was an eye-opening and truly amazing experience, deepening my appreciation for quality ingredients.
However, the journey home proved to be a stark contrast to the tomato-fueled high. A truly frustrating travel mishap involving an airline left me missing my connecting flight in D.C. by a mere three minutes. What ensued was a grueling 19-hour ordeal spent in the D.C. airport, culminating in 32 consecutive hours awake before I finally collapsed into my own bed at home. By the time I reached my doorstep, I was barely coherent! This kind of chaotic experience serves as a vivid reminder of why having a pre-planned meal strategy is not just a luxury, but a necessity. During such times, the last thing you want to do is ponder “What’s for dinner?” Knowing your meals are sorted brings an unparalleled sense of calm and control. Interestingly, amidst the travel chaos, I did manage to forge a couple of new friendships with fellow stranded travelers and even had a peculiar brush with celebrity, sitting across from Caitlyn Jenner without even realizing it until a flock of young fans initiated a selfie session. It just added to the surreal exhaustion of the day! But the most important thing is that I made it home, albeit utterly spent.
